About the seminar

The seminar introduces non-specialist audiences to the basic concepts and logic of risk, with a special focus on credit risk. It first discusses the essence of risk – the probability of occurrence of an event with adverse consequences – and presents the main types of risk. Then, attention shifts to financial risks, including the role of capital structure and the importance of credit risk for the stability of organizations and financial institutions.

The next section presents the main methods for analyzing and assessing credit risk, distinguishing financial factors (liquidity, debt, profitability indicators) and non-financial factors (quality of management, market environment, reputation). Finally, principles and tools for risk management are reviewed, with special emphasis on credit risk management and practical approaches for its limitation and control.
