Uh I work at Jet Brains and >> my name is Hano Embri. I work at Info Support. >> Uh and we are here today to do a talk called public static void main. But before we got get started, who here is
a Java programmer? I think that's almost everyone. For those of you who are not, public static void main is the main method or the entry point to a Java application. Um, and we have a quiz for you today. So, please grab your phone and log onto the quiz. Uh, you can win a Jet Brains all products pack, uh, which gives you access to all of our idees.
Um so please log on to the uh quiz and uh while you do so I will explain the quiz to you. So, how this quiz got started was I read a tweet that said, "I realize that you can sing public static void main to everybody dance now and I can't stop doing it." >> See how that works? So I retweeted that and someone else replied with it
also works to bamos allaya okay and yes singing along is appreciated. So um I spoke with Hano who has a great talk called uh how stairway to heaven is about software development and I said you know what we should do we should do a quiz where we find songs main to and do like a pop quiz at a conference and a few months later Hano contacted me
and said so I looked at the top 200 and I found 15 songs we won't do 15 today because we might run out of time at some point. Um >> I do I do remember I also said is there a conference crazy enough to accept such a proposal right and here we are. So >> apparently there are multiple. So um of course we do have a small
complaint uh because uh since all of you are are Java developers you might be familiar with the upcoming 495 where uh they change the main method to void main. So, thanks Oracle for that. Uh, it's nice that they're improving the language, but did they have to ruin the joke? So, uh, but fortunately, we did find songs that also work with void main, so watch out for those.
