DrupalCon Barcelona 2015: SmarTest: Proposal for accelerating the detection of faults in Drupal

This talk presents research focused on improving automated testing for variability-intensive systems (VISs) like the Drupal CMS. The speaker, a researcher from the University of Seville, addresses the challenges involved in testing a VIS due to the extensive number of configurations that need to be evaluated. To tackle this issue, the speaker introduces new testing techniques designed to accelerate fault detection, ultimately offering quicker feedback for developers. The session includes a demonstration of the SmarTest module, which enhances the SimpleTest core module by integrating these techniques and providing real-time statistics about Drupal, helping developers make informed testing decisions based on fault propensity data. The speaker invites feedback from the Drupal community as they submit SmarTest as a Drupal sandbox project.
