Hiding Information in Plain Sight: A Talk About Steganography and Cryptography
📅 Date: 08 July 2026, 19:30
🎙️ Speaker: Tonislav Troev – Product Technical Lead at OneBit Software, Bulgaria
🔐 About the Event:
This event is part of the .NET user group https://dev.bg/groups/dotnet/.
PROGRAM:
The closer you look, the less you see. It’s the oldest magic trick and the founding principle of steganography – the art of hiding a message where nobody would ever think to look. A secret hidden in plain sight, disguised as something so ordinary that its very existence goes unnoticed.
Cryptography works differently – instead of hiding the message, it makes it indistinguishable from random chaos. The secret travels in the open, passes through thousands of people, and arrives untouched. Anyone can hold it, but not everyone can understand it.
One discipline conceals the existence of a secret; the other protects its meaning. In this talk, we’ll explore both – how they work, where they meet, and how they quietly shape the (digital) world around us.
