🚀 Java is fast, reliable, and well-supported in IDEs – but its build tools like Maven and Gradle can be anything but. In this session, Haoyi Li dives into why build tooling is such a complex domain and how concepts from object-oriented programming (OOP) can simplify the experience.
🚀 He’ll introduce Mill, a new experimental Java build tool designed to make Java builds faster, safer, and more intuitive using OOP principles.
🧑💻 Speaker: Haoyi Li – MIT grad, former engineer at Dropbox and Databricks, major open-source contributor with over 10,000 GitHub stars. JVM expert with deep experience in backend systems, programming languages, and cloud infrastructure.
🎟️ Host: Grace Robinson – Java Champion and Product Manager at IBM, speaker, author, and STEM advocate, bringing a unique cross-disciplinary perspective from biology to software architecture.
