DrupalCon Dublin 2016: One size fits all? Usability for site builders and administrators

This talk addresses the challenges of the Drupal administration interface, which currently fails to support users building varying types of sites from simple storefronts to complex digital experiences. The speaker highlights specific usability issues encountered by site builders and explores the root causes, emphasizing the need to reduce visible complexity to avoid overwhelming users. Discussion centers around the potential for tailored variations of the admin UI suited to different user personas and experience levels, as well as the desire for established UI standards to guide both core and contributed developers. Drawing from extensive experience with Drupal 6, 7, and 8, along with participation in the Documentation Working Group and Usability Team, the speaker aims to promote actionable solutions to enhance user experience in site administration.
