DrupalCon New Orleans 2016: Debugging During Development: Creating, Breaking and Fixing a Module

This talk explores the evolution of debugging practices in the context of Drupal 8, which leverages Symfony and object-oriented architecture. The speaker discusses the limitations of the dpm function for debugging, particularly its inability to print protected properties or provide insights into methods of an object. Attendees will learn about alternative debugging strategies, including using Xdebug with PHPStorm, the Devel and WebProfiler modules, and the Probo CI continuous integration tool to enhance the testing and approval process. The session includes a hands-on demonstration where participants create a module, intentionally break it, and apply these debugging tools to effectively resolve issues and improve their coding practices.
