About this talk
This talk provides an overview of TAP, a collection of free and open-source tools designed to support the creation and delivery of mobile tours. The speaker discusses the use of the TourML specification as a model for producing and consuming tour content, detailing authoring tools built on the Drupal content management system, a native iOS mobile application, and a web-based app utilizing the jQuery Mobile library. Originally developed by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, TAP is now widely adopted in the museum community, featuring implementations at institutions such as The Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The session explores how Drupal was leveraged to develop this open-source suite and its impact on mobile tour experiences in museums.
