This talk explores the evolution of local development environments for Drupal, highlighting the transition from MAMP, XAMPP, and WAMP to the innovative platform, Proviso. The speaker discusses how Vagrant can be leveraged to create reproducible and production-like development setups, addressing previously encountered challenges in local configurations. During Drupalcon Portland, a coalition of developers from Zivtech, Kalamuna, Myplanet Digital, and others came together to initiate Proviso, aimed at providing an SDK and API for platform-independent local virtual machines. The session will cover Proviso's design goals, current capabilities, and encourage audience participation in this collaborative project.
