Session Description: "In this session, Walid Tazout presents why modern applications are expected to perform flawlessly, yet they are tested in lab conditions when in reality, they operate on networks that are anything but predictable. From congested city Wi-Fi to intermittent cellular signals in moving vehicles. Real-world connectivity is dynamic, unstable, and often unreliable. Traditional testing on stable, high-speed networks fails to prepare applications for these challenging conditions, leading to bugs, crashes, and a poor user experience.

Walid introduces a powerful network-simulation tool designed to bridge the gap between idealised lab conditions and real-world complexities. The tool goes beyond static throttling by offering a suite of predefined, dynamic scenarios that emulate common yet challenging network environments. Attendees will see simulations of the “urban canyon effect,” where mobile signals fluctuate rapidly between buildings; “high-speed driving,” which models packet loss and latency spikes during cellular handovers; and “peak-hour congestion,” which mimics the bandwidth squeeze on a shared home network.
