We present Office Tech Talks – a new series by DEV.BG where we visit the offices of leading tech companies. In this format, engineers and industry leaders share experience, real challenges, and practical solutions live, with Q&A and networking time.

The second event in the series is DEV.BG @ SiteGround: Office Tech Talks, held at the SiteGround office in Sofia.

The program includes two lectures with different focuses – one about systems, processes, and psychological safety in high-risk environments, and the other about how the role of programmers is changing in a world where AI writes more and more code.

During the event, there will be surprises and a prize raffle.

Free parking, transportation from "Business Park" metro station, and a kids' corner will be available for visitors coming with children. Registered participants will receive additional logistical information via email before the event.

After the lectures, there will be a Q&A session and networking with catering and drinks provided by the hosts.

Language of the event: Bulgarian.
Registration is mandatory.

Program:

  • 18:30 – 19:00 – Registration

  • 19:30 – 20:00 – What Does It Mean to Be a Programmer in a World Where AI Writes All the Code? — Petar Petrov

  • 20:00 – 20:20 – Q&A with both speakers

  • 20:20 – 21:20 – Networking with catering and drinks from the hosts

Lecture 1: The Chain Reaction of Success: Humans In The Loop

Idelin Todorov

In a world of complex systems and large-scale software architectures, the difference between smooth operation and critical failure often lies not in the code, but in the quality of communication. This lecture explores the parallels between managing a nuclear power plant and a modern tech company and shows how work protocols and psychological safety prevent cascading errors. You will learn why clear rules don’t kill innovation – they are the only way for it to survive in high-risk environments.

Lecture 2: What Does It Mean to Be a Programmer in a World Where AI Writes All the Code?

Petar Petrov

In times when we cannot keep up with testing AI innovations in our field, it is important to pause and look at the big picture, asking the following questions:

  • What does it mean to be a programmer and will code still be written?

  • Will the profession remain, transform, or disappear completely?

  • How and what should we do to stay relevant in the short and long term?
