Grafana Alerting is now the single alerting engine you need — covering everything Prometheus, Mimir, and Loki could do, with a new one-click migration path and multi-team routing built in.
Sonia Aguilar and Alexander from Grafana Labs walk through the evolution of Grafana Alerting and three key improvements landing in Grafana 13. On scaling: a new single-evaluator HA mode means replicas no longer duplicate all rule evaluations, keeping database and data source load constant regardless of how many instances you run — enabled with one config flag. On multi-team support: multiple independent notification policy trees let each team own their routing without risking accidental breakage of others' alerts. On migration: a Prometheus compatibility layer now allows importing alert rules and Alertmanager config from Prometheus, Mimir, or Loki via a new UI wizard or API (compatible with existing mimirtool and cortextool workflows). Imported rules arrive paused by default for safe review before activation. The talk closes with a live demo of the new Alert Activity page — showing alert volume over time, per-instance notification delivery history, and Grafana Assistant analysis of alert patterns to surface investigation priorities.
